The Charleval castle in the French commune of Charleval in the department of Eure region Normandy was 1570 as a hunting lodge for King Charles IX. Built by the architect Baptiste Androuet du Cerceau with the help of Jean Gallia, Hieronymus Corda, André Cuarda and Guillaume Marchant, but the construction was interrupted after the king's death in 1574.

Jacques I. Androuet du Cerceau published the plans in his work Les plus excellents bastiments de France . The British Museum keeps the original drawings .

In the 17th century, the castle , of which only the remains of the moats and a farm building with a remarkable fireplace and various sculptures have been preserved, came into the possession of Faucon de Ris', the first President of the Parliament of Normandy .
