Crispendorf Castle was in Crispendorf in what is now the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia until 1945 .

Crispendorf is a place in the Schleizer Oberland not far from the lake district around Knau in the Thuringian Slate Mountains . The castle stood by a large pond in the middle of the village.

history

Crispendorf Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1389. The appearance of the medieval castle is not known. The owners were the gentlemen von Poseck. The Lords of Watzdorf acquired their property in 1538 . From these, the property and property went to Heinrich II. Reuss elder line , who designated it as a widow's residence. In 1765 the Senator Bergmeister Johann Christian Rudolph bought the complex and had it converted into a palace. By marriage, the castle came into the hands of the Counts of the Duchy of Geldern , who then named themselves after the place. The castle was built in World War II plundered several times and after the expropriation of 1,945 in 1948 to command 209 of theSMAD blown up.

The baroque palace was a three-winged building in a horseshoe shape with three floors.
