Drasing Castle (2006)

Drasing Castle stands on a wooded hill north of Krumpendorf . Drasing Castle was first mentioned in documents in 1284 and 1362. Presumably it already existed in Carolingian times as a bailey of the Palatinate Moosburg . In 1379 the castle came to the Färber family, whose members were then servants of the Gurk Abbey. 1492 awarded Emperor Friedrich III. the fallen drasing to Sebald Feulner. The castle remained in the possession of the Feulner until 1640, when the Feulner had to leave Carinthia. Johann Christof Deutenhofer bought Drasing. In 1730, high debts forced Maria Eleonora Freiin von Deutenhofer to sell Drasing to Matthias Karl Freiherr von Rechbach. In 1777 Josef von Reindlingen acquired it, who left it to his manager, Josef Edler von Hueber, after the death of his wife in 1797. In the 19th and 20th centuries there were frequent changes of ownership. 1810 Maria Genoveva von Strohlendorf, 1840 the Viktringer textile manufacturer Thomas Ritter von Moro. In 1842/1843 Thaddäus Lanner had the castle repaired and the tower on the southeast corner raised. In 1906 renovation measures took place again. Further renovations took place in 1973 by the Kos family. The Viennese cabaret artist Hans Peter Heinzl also joins the list of former castle owners. In 1994 the Austrian publisher Christian W. Mucha acquired the property and subjected it to extensive renovations. Since then, Drasing has served as an exhibition space for his art collection.

description

The castle is a three-storey, castle-like Renaissance building from the 16th century with a tower on the southeast corner and pinnacles in the middle part of the north and south front. The newly made coat of arms of the Feulner family can be seen above the northern entrance portal. The square Laubenhof has pillars and column arcades. An empty coat of arms and stonemason's mark can be seen on a stone portal on the first floor . In the knight's hall on the second floor of the east wing there is a green glazed tiled stove in Renaissance shapes. The chapel on the ground floor of the west wing, first mentioned in 1660, contains a painting from 1698 with Christ on the cross.
