Hans Westhoff

Hans Westhoff (* 3. May 1893 in Dortmund (according to another source on May 3, 1895); † 28. January 1961 in Aachen ) was a Prussian civil servant and 1944 contract as district administrator of the district of Aachen .

Life and career

Hans Westhoff was the son of the Justice Council Wilhelm Westhoff. From 1911 to 1914 he studied law and political science at the universities of Grenoble , Geneva , Munich and Münster . After passing his trainee examination (August 1, 1914), he entered the Prussian judicial service as a court trainee on October 5, 1914 , where he was employed at the Hamm Higher Regional Court until June 2, 1919 . After the First World War , Westhoff moved to the interior. He started his first job there as a government trainee on June 13, 1919 with the government in Hanover. After his appointment as a government assessor (August 13, 1921), he was transferred to the Arnsberg government on September 9, 1921 and from there on April 1, 1922 to the subordinate district office of Hamm . After the deportation of the Dortmund Police President Hans Brandt, Westhoff took up his position on June 19, 1923, before moving to the Münster government on January 21, 1923 with a decree of January 2, 1924 . Promoted to government councilor there in November 1925 , he was taken over to the state police administration on August 1, 1927 and at the same time head of the Buer police office . In June 1930, Westhoff moved to the Higher Presidium of the Province of Westphalia in Münster as administrative officer for police matters . In May 1933, Westhoff was transferred to the Trier government in the same position (government councilor) , where he was seconded to the Reich Commissioner for Resettlement in March 1935 . Before the end of 1937, it was transferred to the government in Lüneburg, with the rank of senior government councilor.

In October 1938 Westhoff moved to the Oberversicherungsamt (OVA) in the Aurich government . As the administrative court director and director of the OVA he remained in Aurich until 1942. This was followed by another secondment, this time from April to June 1942 to the Köslin government and from there to the Aachen Administrative Court . In April 1943 he was employed by the local government . After the death of the district administrator of the district of Aachen, Erwin Classen (February 8, 1944), he took over the management of his office until June 22, 1944. After the collapse of the Third Reich in 1945, Westhoff continued to work in the public service, most recently until his retirement in 1958 as a government director in Münster.
