Karl Alois Rudolf Strauch since 1827 Karl Alois Rudolf von Strauch (born January 21, 1771 in Aachen ; † September 14, 1844 there ; according to another source also Carl Rudolf Josef Aloys von Strauch ) was a cloth manufacturer , landowner and from 1816 to 1836 district administrator of the district Aachen .

Life and career

Karl Rudolf Strauch was the son of the businessman, needle manufacturer and owner of the Kalkofen estate , Johann Caspar Gottfried von Strauch (* 1733; † before 1790) and Maria Margarete Josephine, née. von Collenbach (* 1738; † before 1775) and nephew of the former mayor of the imperial city of Aachen Peter Balthasar Strauch (1728–1802). After attending high school he studied law at the University in Bonn . In addition to his position as a cloth manufacturer, he owned the Wiesenthal estate on the former Kölnsteinweg in front of the city gates (today around Wiesental 8, north of Europaplatz). During the time of the Napoleonic occupation he was offered public offices. He held the honorary position of commercial judge and was appointed to the Prefectural Council of the Département de la Roer in Aachen on August 30, 1811 . After the Rhineland passed to Prussia on May 1, 1816, he was appointed the first district administrator of the newly formed district of Aachen. The shrub, suffering from health problems since the beginning of the 1830s , was retired at its own request on December 15, 1835 with the highest cabinet order (AKO) of March 7, 1836. On April 15, 1836, he officially resigned from the service.

The Catholic Karl Rudolf Strauch married Isabella Maria Walburga von Thimus on December 30, 1805 in Aachen (born November 8, 1769 in Aachen; † 1821), a daughter of Aegidius Leonhard von Thimus and Maria Agnes, née. of shrub. Her daughter Clementine Ottilie Hubertine von Strauch (born January 5, 1809 - † September 25, 1893 in Aachen) married the Prussian chamberlain, member of the manor and mayor of Aachen , Theodor Freiherr Geyr von Schweppenburg (born September 25, 1806 in Cologne; † July 3, 1882 in Aachen). Karl Rudolf von Strauch was raised to the Prussian nobility on March 31, 1827.
