Wilhelm Coals

Wilhelm coals (* 14. December 1896 in Gressenich ; † 31 October 1964 ) was a social democratic politician and volunteer District Administrator of the district Aachen .

Life

Wilhelm Kohl grew up in the Gressenich district of Mausbach . From 1910 to 1914 he trained as a printing specialist. He then fought as a soldier in the First World War from 1914 to 1918. From 1919 to 1929 he worked as a metalworker, but during the economic crisis he found himself unemployed until 1931, from which he tried to free himself by founding a trading company. At the time of takeover by the Nazis in 1933 Wilhelm coals city councilor of the SPD in the Council of the neighboring town was Stolberg and member of the district council district Aachen . At the same time he led the local group of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . Because of these activities, he was taken into custody.

After his release from custody, he was able to continue his trading company under observation until 1939. During the war years he ran a transport company from 1939 to 1944, and was arrested again in 1944 and transferred to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp , where he was liberated by American soldiers in 1945 . In 1948 he resumed the operation of the transport company until he retired in 1954 for health reasons.

Political offices

From 1945 to 1948 Wilhelm Kohlen was mayor and later the community director of the community of Gressenich. Politically, the administrative district of Aachen was assigned to the British occupation zone on May 20, 1945. On August 1, 1945, Wilhelm Kohlen first became mayor of the community. After the removal of all mayors and officials from their offices on September 13, 1946 in order to introduce a new administrative order, he acted as community director.

He was a member of the district council of the then Aachen district from December 9, 1949 to October 27, 1956. During this time he held the office of honorary district administrator of the district of Aachen from December 9, 1949 to November 27, 1952. His main areas of work were the finance committee and housing construction.
