Castle Emmersdorf is in the same village in the district Emmersdorf Wölfnitz in Klagenfurt .

history

It is not known when the first structure was erected at this point. In 1136 the name Harold de Zemramsdorf can be found in a document , which could indicate a medieval residence, but the name is not found in any other document in the next few centuries. It was not until the years 1569 to 1613 that Gut Emmersdorf emerged as a property of the Kulmër von Rosenbichl family . In 1699 Johann Ulrich von Glaunach zum Kazenstain acquired the Emmerdorf estate and the estate remained in the family for 99 years - until 1798. Then the owners usually changed in quick succession. The doctor and politician Adolf Fischhof lived and died in Emmersdorf Castle in 1893. From 1899 to 1902 the property was owned by the Vienna General Pension Fund.

Today the castle is privately owned. In summer it is occasionally open for cultural events and sightseeing.

description

The castle is an elongated, three-storey building on a rectangular floor plan that has been fundamentally changed several times in the course of its history. The south-facing facade has eleven window axes and a tower-like porch, the top floor of which has been converted into a veranda. On both sides of the building there is a stepping corner tower with a hood-like helmet . The third floor, added in the 19th century, has a mansard roof. During this renovation, the previously attached window decoration was removed.
