history
In 1160 the rural property was first documented by the Archbishop of Salzburg, Eberhard von Biburg , under Chaeserowe . The name does not go back to "Kaiserau", but to the local alpine dairy or "cheese dairy". The later hunting lodge is owned by the Admont Abbey and was converted into a castle-like structure by Abbot Anselm Luerzer. Imperial hunting guests included Joseph II , Ferdinand I and Archduke Johann of Austria . During the time of National Socialism , a branch of the Reich Research Institute for Alpine Agriculture was set up in the castle . On September 3, 1942, a fire destroyed almost all of the building. In 1950 it was rebuilt, slightly simplified. Today it is leased to the local tourism company and used by them as an accommodation facility.
