Pollo was a whiskey distillery in Delny , Highland , Scotland . The brandy produced was therefore assigned to the Highlands whiskey region .
history
The distillery is said to have been founded in 1817 by W. B. Rose near Delny on the Cromarty Firth . Five years later, the company was put up for sale, stating that demand exceeded production. Agriculture was also attached to the business. At that time the production capacity was 3,447 gallons . John Ross , also founder of the Balblair distillery, acquired the company. It then passed to his son Andrew , who later ran the distillery together with his sons and finally closed it in 1903.
It is noticeable that Alfred Barnard did not visit Pollo as part of his important whiskey trip in 1885 and 1886, which is probably due to a lack of information. Since Barnard also visited very small distilleries, no statement about the size and importance of the company can be derived from it. For this reason, there is little information about this company in the literature.
