The Kostelec nad Orlicí Castle (Czech: Nový zámek ) is located in the town of Kostelec nad Orlicí in the Czech Republic . The Empire building was built between 1829 and 1833 according to plans by the Viennese architect Heinrich Koch.

After the Kostelec rule came into the possession of the Kinsky family in 1812 , Count Josef Kinsky had a representative property built on the outskirts of the city on the banks of the Wilder Adler . The building was named Nový zámek (New Castle) to distinguish it from the older Baroque chateau that was already on site . Koch created a one-story, rectangular building with a basement and a raised ground floor. The front and rear are divided by eleven and the sides by five window axes. A central risalit comprises three window axes on each side. In front of it are portici with four columns each. The ground floor housed the representative rooms, the first floor was set up for residential purposes. The castle chapel is located in the basement.

The property includes a 42-hectare site in the style of an English landscape park with an extensive alpine park , the layout of which also dates back to the early 19th century. The park is known for its many exotic trees. Among other things, there are tulip trees , trumpet trees, plane trees, red oaks, American maples and Canadian hemlocks . The ecosystems that have developed here in the course of the last 200 years in conjunction with the foreign trees are considered so valuable that a large part of the area was declared the Kostelecký zámecký park nature reserve in 1995 .

The castle was the residence of the Kinsky family until 1945. During the communist era, a research institute for pig breeding was housed in the building. In 1997 there was restitution. The castle building can be visited. Guided tours are offered daily, except on Mondays. The park is open to the public.
