The Kropstädt Castle in Kropstädt , a district of Lutherstadt Wittenberg , was built between 1855 and 1856 by the then owner Friedrich Adolf Karl von Leipziger according to plans by the Berlin architect Friedrich Hitzig in the English-neo-Gothic style.

The Liesnitz moated castle stood on the site of today's castle as early as 1150 . This was stormed and destroyed by citizens of Wittenberg in 1358. In 1567 the castle was rebuilt by Moritz von Thümen. The old castle was demolished in 1842.

In 1945 the owners of the castle were expropriated. The castle served as a children's home in the GDR . After the reunification, the castle was privatized again and was used as a hotel after 2001. The hotel is currently inactive.
