La Motte-Tilly Castle
The Château de La Motte-Tilly is south-east of Paris in the same place La Motte-Tilly near the town of Nogent-sur-Seine . The property can be visited.
history
La Motte Tilly was acquired by the Terray brothers in 1748. The elder, Abbé Joseph Marie Terray , became Louis XV's last tax overseer in 1769 . appointed. In 1755 the brothers began to demolish the previous stately building on the heights above the Seine and to build a castle. The architect was François Nicolas Lancret . It was partially destroyed during the French Revolution .
In 1910, the Count of Rohan-Chabot bought the property and restored it. He had the park redesigned based on the French model . His daughter, the Marquise of Maillé, completed the work with the furniture and interior fittings. Since she had no heirs, she bequeathed her life's work to the French Monument Protection Office.
The building made of sandstone and bricks , which is impressive due to its balanced proportions, has a high slate roof . The terraces on the north facade gently sloping down to a large water surface that is connected to the Seine by two arms .
