The Castle Neudöbern even mansion Neudöbern called, is a historic mansion in which the municipality Luckaitztal belonging village Neudöbern in Oberspreewald-Lausitz in Brandenburg . It is a listed building, but is in a state of decay.

history

Construction of the manor house in Neudöbern began at the beginning of the 18th century at the behest of the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong , and the building was completed in 1703. A moated castle, first mentioned in 1440, was located on the site. It was initially used by the von Thilau aristocratic family , who at that time owned the basic rights over Neudöbern. In 1890 the village became the property of the von Pourtalès family . Around 1900 a western extension was added. After the Second World War, the landowners were expropriated during the land reforms in the Soviet occupation zone and the castle became public property.

The mansion is a two-storey, 9: 3-axis plastered building with a hipped roof . Three central axes with the entrance portal are slightly projected, the two floors are separated by a cornice . There is a strong segmented gable above the entrance portal . Above the door there is a carved skylight with the year of construction of the manor house.

Since the end of the Second World War, Neudöbern Castle has been unused and left to decay. As a result of the lowering of the groundwater level for the Greifenhain open- cast lignite mine , the wooden pile foundation of the castle was partially exposed, causing it to weather over time. As a result, cracks appeared all over the building, particularly in the north-western corner of the building, which almost completely detached itself from the rest of the building during the 2010s; meanwhile the window there is also missing. In 2005, the damage to Neudöbern Castle was estimated at around 2.4 million euros. The building is in acute danger of collapsing and may therefore no longer be entered.
