Daniel Edward Sawyer (born June 20, 1882 in Pine Island , Minnesota , † July 5, 1937 in Clarendon Hills , Illinois ) was an American golfer .
biography
Daniel Sawyer was active at the Chicago Golf Club . At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he was Olympic champion with the Western Golf Association in team competition . In the individual, however, he was eliminated in the first round against Burt McKinnie .
In 1906 he won the Western Amateur and in 1920 the Metropolitan Amateur . In 1910 he was second in the US amateur . Sawyer later moved to New York , where he played at the Siwanoy Country Club and worked for a large production company.
