The Nové Hrady Castle (German Castle Neuschloß ) is located in Nové Hrady in the Czech Republic, in Okres Ústí nad Orlicí .

history

The rococo castle was built between 1774 and 1777 by order of Count Johann Anton Joseph Harbuval-Chamaré . The architect Josef Jäger designed it in the style of French summer residences. That is why it is also called "Klein Schönbrunn" or "Bohemian Versailles". The palace complex consists of the entrance gate with adjoining French garden , the administration building on both sides, the grain store and the English park with the statues made of sandstone . Up the hill are the ruins of the Gothic castle, which was removed during the construction of the castle and served as building material.

In 1997 the castle was restored and opened to the public in 2001.
