Josef Jäger (master builder)
Josef Jäger (* 1721 in Tyrol ; † 16th September 1793 in Prague ) was an in Bohemia acting architect of Austrian descent.
biography
Josef Jäger probably came to Prague through the builder Andreas Hafenegger , who also came from Tyrol . Since 1759 he had the citizenship of the Lesser Town in Prague . His buildings mark the transition from baroque to classicist baroque .
His works include the Grömling Palace on Prague's Lesser Town (1786) and the reconstruction of Kostelec nad Černými Lesy Castle (1759). Together with Anton Haffenecker , he built the Lesser Town barracks in 1779.
