Hans-Georg Specht (born August 8, 1940 in Ohlau , former German Reich ) was Lord Mayor of Mülheim an der Ruhr from 1994 to 1999 .

Life

After a postal apprenticeship in Schleswig-Holstein , Hans-Georg Specht became a Mülheimer. In 1959 he joined the police force, where he was also a union member. He was retired as police chief inspector. In 1972 he became a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), for which he immediately worked as a competent citizen in the sports committee. He was elected to the council in 1975, and in 1993 he was given parliamentary group chairmanship . His hesitation after his tenure as Lord Mayor 1994–99 led to Jens Baganz's candidacy . Also in 2000 he tried in vain to get a direct state parliament mandate for the CDU.

Services

He became known through the first black-green coalition in a big city. He tried to bring the different camps together and promoted civic engagement. As a critic of the Ruhrbania planning and co-initiator of a successful referendum, he is at odds with large parts of his party.
