Dieter from Siepen

Heinz-Dieter from the Siepen (born July 5, 1922 in Essen , † May 4, 1982 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a social democratic local politician and from 1974 until his death in 1982 Lord Mayor of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr.

Live and act

Von dem Siepen had been a member of the SPD since 1946 and was initially chairman of the party in the Mülheim-Altstadt district . In the City Council , he was elected in 1967 to shortly afterwards as mayor, the deputy mayor for Heinz Hager to take over. After his move to the top of the city administration , Dieter von dem Siepen was elected as his successor on October 24, 1974. In 1981 he fell seriously ill, but fulfilled his role as mayor until his death.

The forecourt of Mülheim main station is named after Dieter aus dem Siepen . On Dieter-aus-dem-Siepen-Platz there is a fountain designed by Gottfried Gruner ("Aqua-Mobile").
