Lambert Maubach (born August 26, 1781 in Kreuznach ; † April 21, 1838 ) was mayor of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr from 1816 to 1820 .

Life

He was the first foreigner as mayor , but had previously headed the Mülheim police administration as a police bailiff in Prussian services, so that he was familiar with the local conditions.

His special commitment was the expansion of the road network as well as the poor system, which he freed from the dependence on private donations and declared a compulsory municipal task. A free medical treatment for destitute citizens through the city was introduced by him. Despite his achievements, he was not very popular with the Mülheim population. After a suspension from office, triggered by a complaint from the Mülheim citizenship to the Hamm Higher Regional Court , Maubach was not reinstated by the responsible supervisory authority - the Prussian district president in Düsseldorf - after the five-year term of office had expired. After leaving office, Lambert Maubach continued to work in Mülheim an der Ruhr as a legal advisor and notary .
