Taurup Castle

Taurup Castle ( Latvian Taurupes muias pils ) is located in the municipality of Taurup / Taurupe in the Oger district in northern Latvia . Originally built around 1724, the palace was rebuilt around 1900 in Tudor style based on designs by Wilhelm Bockslaff for the owner Baron von Transehe. During the Russian Revolution of 1905 , Baron von Transehe was shot by insurgents and the castle set on fire. Many previous architectural details were omitted during its repair. The castle building has been used as a school since 1938.
