Tigring Castle

Tigring Castle is just outside the village of Tigring in the municipality of Moosburg in Carinthia. The castle, built under Johann Ernst Teutenhofen in the 1660s instead of an estate, has served as a district retirement home since 1967.

The three-storey building with a central projection has a staircase in the middle of the north side. The three-axis elevated central section on the southern main facade is accentuated by a triangular gable with a painted coat of arms and framing pilasters . The windows on the second floor have alternating triangular and arched gables. The staircase is barrel vaulted. One room on the ground floor and two rooms on the first floor have a ceiling stucco from 1660. The stucco of one room forms a cartouche with the coat of arms of Teutenhofen, festoons , tendrils, winged herms and taps in the corners. In the second room, eight eagles, each of whose wings enclose a medallion, are depicted.
