Krisztina Laki

Krisztina Laki (born September 16, 1944 in Érd ) is a German opera singer (lyrical coloratura soprano ) and vocal teacher with Hungarian roots .

Life

Krisztina Laki studied singing at the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy with József Réti in Budapest . In 1971 she made her debut as Gilda ( Rigoletto ) in Bern , where she also played Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute and Sophie in Richard Strauss ' Rosenkavalier until 1974 .

1974–1979 she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and, among other things, at the Teatro La Scala in Milan , where she appeared, for example, as blonde in Giorgio Strehler's production of Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail alongside Edita Gruberová (Konstanze). From 1980 to 1989 she had guest contracts with the Hamburg and Munich State Operas , but primarily with the Cologne Opera , where, as before in Düsseldorf, she could be heard in all important roles in her field.

From 1984 onwards, she was a freelance guest for more than two decades as a sought-after opera and concert singer at almost all major venues and festivals in Europe and around the world. In Loriot's Stuttgart production of Flotow's Martha (1985, also televised) she appeared in the title role. In Stuttgart she could also be heard as Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio and a role in Jommelli's Fetonte .

Her career has brought her together with the following conductors, among others: Roland Bader , Frieder Bernius , Ádám Fischer , Lamberto Gardelli , Wolfgang Gönnenwein , Leopold Hager , Bernard Haitink , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Marek Janowski , Sigiswald Kuijken , Raymond Leppard , Francesco Molinari-Pradelli , Georges Prêtre , Sir John Pritchard , Helmuth Rilling , Wolfgang Sawallisch , Horst Stein , Heinz Wallberg , Bruno Weil , Lothar Zagrosek . She also worked with directors such as John Dexter , Michael Hampe , Hans Hartleb , Leopold Lindtberg , Juri Ljubimow , Axel Manthey , Giancarlo del Monaco , Hans Neugebauer , Peter Palitzsch , Jean-Pierre Ponnelle , Otto Schenk .

Krisztina Laki regularly holds master classes worldwide, is a member of the jury of important international music competitions and works as a lecturer and honorary professor at the University of the Arts in Bremen . Her students there included u. a. Aeneas Humm .

Laki has also recorded numerous unknown works on sound carriers, including by the composers Gottfried von Eine , Paul I. Esterházy de Galantha , Niccolò Jommelli , Josef Mysliveček , Giovanni Paisiello , Antonio Salieri (songs), as well as roles in Singspiele by ETA Hoffmann and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and finally the Zemina in Richard Wagner's youth opera Die Feen .
