The guard Schlossberg is located in Starzacher district guard village in the district of Tübingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg .

In the middle of the village, the old and new castle of the Barons von Ow -Wachendorf is located north and west of the Schlossstrasse next to large barns, outbuildings, the church and the rectory. Together with the extensive castle garden adjoining it to the west , they shape the appearance of Wachendorf.

The von Ow family was elevated to the status of imperial baron by Emperor Leopold I in 1681 . Her rights also included the right to life and death ( blood jurisdiction ). This became clear to Johann Reinhard ( Gypsy Meizel ) on June 30, 1787 after a series of attacks. The executioner had brought him from life to death with the sword as a warning example . Likewise, the current jurisprudence was enacted in 1747 by the landlord Joseph Otto Freiherr von Ow. There is still a prison cell on the castle grounds . The castle is still privately owned by the von Ow-Wachendorf family and is generally not open to the public. On special occasions, however, they let small groups of visitors into their castle.
