Heaven's Cry is a Canadian progressive metal band from Montreal that was formed in the early 1990s.
history
The band was founded in the early 1990s by singer and guitarist Pierre St-Jean and singer and bassist Sylvain Auclair. The first appearances followed, with the band also playing as an opening act for bands like Marillion and Saga . In 1995 the band reached a contract with the Canadian label Hypnotic Records and recorded their debut album Food for Thought Substitute in 1996 . The album was released in Japan that same year, while it was not released in Europe and Canada until a year later. After a few line-up changes, drummer René Lacharité and guitarist Éric Jarrin joined the band in late 2000.
In October 2002 the second album Primal Power Addiction was released in Europe on the Dutch label DVS Records . This was followed by an appearance at the Dutch ProgPower Europe , followed by a tour with Threshold through Belgium , Germany and Denmark . In March 2003 the album was released in North America . The band also played in Canada with Anvil , Planet X , Arena and Nightwish until 2004.
This was followed by a break of several years until the band played their first concert again in Montreal on September 18, 2011, together with Katatonia . The band now consisted of Pierre St-Jean, Sylvain Auclair, Éric Jarrin and René Lacharité. In September 2012 the next album Wheels of Impermanence was released via Prosthetic Records . On October 5th the band will perform again at ProgPower Europe.
