The castle chapel of St. Bartholomäus Burg is located two kilometers east of the municipality of Winhöring on the southern slope of a mountain forest.

construction

In 1392 Hans Perger zu Waldberg founded the noble castle keep.

The first castle keep , with the chapel still inside, was torn down in June 1721 and a smaller castle and the external castle chapel were built on the same site. This smaller property including the chapel still stands today and is protected as a building and ground monument (no .: D-1-7742-0203 and D-1-71-137-23).

Today's castle chapel is identical to the castle chapel of the first castle keep from 1392. When the old noble seat was demolished in 1721, the church was probably built as a separate building by leaving the masonry of the castle chapel and adding a roof with a turret. The current church was originally firmly connected to the second castle keep and was built in its current form in the first half of the 16th century on the foundation walls of the first castle chapel.

The chapel has a Gothic floor plan, 2 bays with a 5/8 end and a net vault . There are 4 pointed arch windows in the ship . On the west side there is a round window above the portal .

altar

In the upper part of the altar stands the patron saint of the church, the Apostle Bartholomew . The figure is made of wood and dates from the beginning of the 16th century. At the top of the high altar stands St. Florian , patron saint of fire departments. To the side of the high altar, a Madonna in a protective cloak , is Saint Sebastian on the left and Saint Erasmus on the right . To the left of St. Bartholomew sits St. Joseph with the baby Jesus , to the right of the church patron sits St. Anthony , also with the baby Jesus.

tower

The tower ends with a copper onion tip . In the tower there are two smaller bells which can still be rung by hand with ropes.

owner

After Hans Perger had built the noble seat, the castle changed to the noble ones in Trenbeck in 1440. From then on, the keep remained in the family's possession until they died out in 1637.

The castle then changed hands several times until Ignaz Graf zu Toerring-Jettenbach bought it in 1755.

The church has been owned by the Winhöring parish since 1966 .
