The castle park is a listed park in Jüterbog , a small town in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg .

History and structure

The name of the park goes back to a medieval castle, which is mentioned in a document in 1161. There are no more traces of her. The structure that exists in the 21st century was essentially laid out in the 1930s. In the 1960s and 1970s there were slight redesigns, including a zoo in the western part next to the castle pond. In the eastern part is the smaller carp pond.

The park is bordered in the north by Wilhelm-Kempff-Strasse, in the west by Mozartstrasse, in the east by the Wiesenschule and in the south by Schloßstrasse. In this southern part there are several seats and a bronze sculpture by Hans Klakow . The work dates from 1974 and is entitled Children playing with turtles . It is also a listed building. The plastic, weighing around 100 kilograms, was stolen in April 2015 by two alleged perpetrators and offered for sale to a Berlin antiques dealer. He researched the origin of the work and returned the figure to the town of Jüterbog. The plastic is now in front of the entrance to the “Play with” daycare center.
