The Mauerbach Castle Park is located in the Wienerwald community of Mauerbach on the outskirts of Vienna .

history

The Mauerbach Castle Park, located on the outskirts of Vienna in the middle of the Vienna Woods , is in the immediate vicinity of the Mauerbach Charterhouse, with which it not only connects the geographical proximity, but also historical references. Until the closure of the Mauerbach Charterhouse by Joseph II in 1782, the site was owned by the monastery. It was subsequently administered by the Religious Fund as an agricultural and forestry property until 1833 .

In 1833 Georg Simon Freiherr von Sina acquired the property. He cultivated the area, designed it into a park landscape and had a stately villa built on one of the terraces, which from then on was referred to as "the castle". The building was constructed in 1840 by the architect Alois Pichl .

From 1881, Georg Prince Maurocordato was the master of the palace gardens. After his death in 1902, the owners changed frequently. In 1957, the now dilapidated "castle", which had been played badly during the occupation years, was torn down. The park area was becoming overgrown, but it was a popular playground for the children in the area. After several changes of ownership, the castle grounds were acquired by MESONIC Holding GmbH .

Exactly 50 years after the "castle" was demolished, in 2007 the construction of the Seminar Hotel Restaurant Schlosspark Mauerbach began. The first guests were welcomed in August 2008 and in 2016 the facility was expanded and officially opened by Finance Minister Schelling .
