The narrow-gauge railway Neubukow Obere Weiche-Bastorf (also beet railway or Neubukower beet railway ) was a narrow-gauge railway with 900 mm gauge in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The route, which was only used to transport goods, led from Neubukow Obere Weiche on the Wismar – Rostock route to Bastorf .

history

For the construction of the narrow-gauge railway, a joint stock company was founded by the local landowners in 1890. The section Neubukow Obere Weiche – Blengow was opened on October 6, 1890, the remainder from Blengow to Bastorf in 1894, other places were connected via light railways. The Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Friedrich-Franz Railway took over the operation . Various planned projects, such as the construction of branch lines to the Neubukow train station and Rerik, as well as the extension via Kägsdorf to Kühlungsborn West to Molli , were not implemented.

The 14.4 km long narrow-gauge railway had 17 loading points with a total of 40 switch units. The railroad was only operated from September to January, the goods being transported were mainly agricultural products (especially potatoes and beets), but also fertilizers and fuels.

The wagon fleet mainly comprised open, tipping freight wagons, as these were unloaded in Neubukow Obere Weiche via a fall ramp into a lower-lying standard gauge track.

In 1946 the narrow-gauge railway was dismantled as a reparation payment .
