The Hellbach is a flowing body of water in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The river has its source west of the core town of Satow and north of the state road L 11. It flows through the urban area of Kröpelin , south of the core town and takes the Sägebach from the right . It crosses under the B 105 , flows through Neubukow , takes on the Panzower Bach and flows through the Hellbachtal landscape protection area (see list of landscape protection areas in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , L 78). The Hellbach flows southwest of Roggow into the Salzhaff , a bulge in the Baltic Sea .

In December 2018, the Hellbach hit the headlines when the Neubokw pig fattening system illegally discharged large amounts of liquid manure into the water. This resulted in large-scale fish deaths in the Panzower Bach, Hellbach and Salzhaff. Also "an essential habitat for birds in the European bird sanctuaries in the Wismar Bay" has been wiped out.
