The Schmidt Nunatakker are a group of Nunatakkers in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They rise 17.5 km southeast of Governor Mountain in the Wilson Hills of the Transantarctic Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1970 after James L. Schmidt, aircraft electrician of the VX-6 flight squadron in the Antarctic winter of 1967 the McMurdo station .
