The Snow Lake is a small, horseshoe-shaped lake on the Fildes Peninsula of King George Island , the largest of the South Shetland Islands . It is located in the north of the peninsula, immediately north of Davies Heights (labeled as "Central Mountains" on the German map from 1984), and drains via two almost parallel streams, the Schneebärenbach and the Seebärenbach , in a westerly direction to Bothy Bay ("Seebärenbucht" on the map) and thus to Drakestrasse . In the northeast, there are mussel lakes and whale lakes .

As part of two German expeditions to the Fildes Peninsula in 1981/82 and 1983/84 under the direction of Dietrich Barsch (Geographical Institute of the University of Heidelberg ) and Gerhard Stäblein (Geomorphological Laboratory of the Free University of Berlin ), the lake and numerous others until then unnamed geographic features of the Fildes peninsula and renamed the Scientific Committee on Antarctic research (Scientific Committee on Antarctic research, SCAR) reported.
