Shoqan Uälichanuly
Schoqan Schyngghyssuly Uälichanuly ( Kazakh Шоқан Шыңғысұлы Уәлиханұлы , Russian Чокан Чингисович Валиханов , Tschokan Tschingissowitsch Walichanow * 1835 , † 1865 ), also: Qokan Valikhanov or Shoqan Walikhanov etc., was a Kazakh-Russian scientist, historian, ethnographer, geographer and literary scholar. He is a descendant of Ablai (Khan) .
His main work is considered to be his work on the Russians in Central Asia ( The Russians in Central Asia ), which has also been translated into English. He also dealt with the Shamanism in Kazakhs and the Kyrgyz Manas - epic .
His Collected Works were published by the Historical, Archaeological and Ethnographic Institute (Institut Istorii, Archeologii i Ėtnografii Imeni Č. Č. Valichanova) of the Academy of Science of the Kazakh Socialist Soviet Republic (Akademija Nauk Kazachskoj SSR) in Alma-Ata , named after him .
