Writing length
Writing length is the measure of ink release from writing implements . The writing length is the length of the line that a pen can create until it is empty and is usually given in meters . The determination takes place on special copying machines and under standardized conditions in order to make the products of different manufacturers comparable.
Typical values
Destined for the write length is the pen technology, the amount of ink or the material of the mine and the size of the writing tip . When comparing the same pens you have to consider the temperature , the paper , the writing angle , the writing speed and the pressure, as these parameters can also have an influence. The typical values of different pen technologies are:
- Pencils between 20,000 and 56,000 m (depending on the hardness of the pencil lead)
- Ballpoint pen between 1000 m and 10,000 m
- Rollerball pens between 1000 m and 2500 m
- Gel roller between 500 m and 1200 m
- School fountain pen around 300 m per ink cartridge
