Shulamit Lapid

Shulamit Lapid ( Hebrew שולמית לפיד, English transcription Shulamit Lapid; * September 9, 1934 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli writer. She studied Oriental Studies and was chairman of the Israeli Writers' Union.

For Local Edition (1989), the first novel with Lisi Badichi, her most important figure, she received the German Crime Award in 1996 .

She is one of the best-known writers in Israel and, in addition to crime novels, also writes historical and socially critical novels as well as children's books, plays and short stories. In all of her books she tries to shed light on the social background through subplots.

She is the widow of Josef Lapid and the mother of Jair Lapid .
