School kindergarten

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In some federal states, school kindergartens and preschools are educational institutions. They serve to prepare school-age but not yet ready-to-go children for school.

In Baden-Württemberg, on the other hand, school kindergartens are pre-school facilities for children with disabilities who have identified increased special educational needs. The institutions named school kindergartens in the other federal states are referred to as elementary school support classes in Baden-Württemberg . There children are admitted who, when they reach the age of general compulsory schooling, do not yet have the required school leaving certificate. Their goal is to get children who have been postponed from school to school in one year.

organization

School kindergartens are intended for children whose school readiness is doubtful based on examinations. After attending the school kindergarten or the preliminary class for a year, the children are again examined for their school readiness and are enrolled either in the first class of the regular school or the special school . In contrast to regular kindergartens , the school kindergartens and preliminary classes are attached to a specific school.

School kindergarten teachers and pre-class teachers are employees of the respective provider. There is no special training or study course that is geared towards work at school kindergartens or pre-school classes, nor is there a general program. Almost exclusively women work at kindergartens and pre-school classes, proportionally more than in any other school branch.

Due to the educational sovereignty of the federal states, school kindergartens are not offered in all federal states. They exist in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in the old federal states except Bavaria and Berlin, although school kindergartens in Baden-Württemberg have a different focus and are facilities for disabled children. There are, for example, school kindergartens for mentally handicapped children, for children with language disabilities or for physically handicapped children.

history

The first school kindergarten was established in Charlottenburg in 1907 , and in 1910 the first pre-class in Berlin's Pestalozzi-Froebel-Haus . In the 2007/08 school year there were 1,334 kindergartens with 2,251 classes and 264 institutions with 442 preliminary classes in Germany.
