The Schulthess Group AG , based in Bubikon / Switzerland, is a company with activities in heating and cooling technology as well as washing technology . The company is a subsidiary of the Swedish heating manufacturer Nibe Industrier AB and employs around 1,100 people. In 2009 it generated sales of 340 million Swiss francs. The company was listed on the Swiss stock exchange until the time it was acquired in 2011 .

Field of activity

The core activities of the Schulthess Group are the development, manufacture and sale of products and services in the two business areas of heating and cooling technology as well as washing technology.

The area heating and cooling technology is in the development, production and international distribution of heat pumps , of commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning technology , systems of controlled home ventilation , as well as collectors for the use of solar thermal business.

In the area of washing technology , the Schulthess Group produces washing machines and tumble dryers in the household and commercial and industrial laundries segments.

history

The company was founded in 1845 as Kaspar Schulthess building plumber in Zurich. In 1904 Schulthess produced their first washing machines and in 1951 their first household washing machines. In 1978 Schulthess launched its first washing machine with microprocessor control .

With the management buy-out carried out in 1988 , the previous family shareholder group separated from the company. At the same time, Maschinenfabrik Schulthess AG, Querop Handels AG and Hildebrand AG were merged to form the Schulthess Group. The latter was spun off again in 1995.

In 1997 the group of companies formed a holding structure under the umbrella of the Schulthess Group AG and went public in 1998. In the years that followed, the company grew through various acquisitions and expanded the refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation technology division.

In April 2011, the Swedish competitor Nibe Industrier AB submitted a voluntary public purchase offer for all registered shares of the Schulthess Group that are in the public domain. After the successful completion of the takeover offer, the company was delisted from the stock exchange in September 2011.
