The Schulze-Delitzsch Square is a place in the local situation Luis city of Berlin hamlet center . At the intersection of Inselstrasse , Neue Jakobstrasse and Köpenicker Strasse , a monument to Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch (1808-1883), the politician and founder of the German cooperative system, was unveiled on August 4, 1899 on the central island of the street with small park elements .
The Mittelinsel is opposite the former Luisenstädtische Bank , which was founded in 1863 as a credit union for the district association of the Köpenicker district. Schulze-Delitzsch is considered to be the founder of the cooperative movement .
In 1974, the monument, a bronze statue by the sculptor Hans Arnoldt , as well as the street signs, were erected as part of a new building project (the structural addition to the Karl Marx party college , as well as the demolition and rebuilding of the Köpenicker Straße street between Neue Jakobstraße and Heinrich-Heine Road ) away. The memorial was placed in a depot of the Märkisches Museum . The place was called Inselplatz without any official naming. In 1990 the monument was re-erected in its original location without the group of figures on the base and the square was again given the old name it had received on June 1, 1910.
