The scaled dragonfish ( Stomias ) are a genus of the baleen dragonfish (Stomiidae) and form the subfamily Stomiinae. Scaled dragonfish live in all seas.
features
They have an elongated body covered with large, gently sloping scales. The mouth is big. The teeth are of different sizes. The fangs in the lower jaw are dagger-shaped and curved backwards. There is a long barb on the lower jaw . The beginning of the dorsal fin is clearly behind the pelvic fin attachment. An adipose fin is missing. Scaled dragonfish grow to be 18 to 43 centimeters long.
