The Schwabencenter is a shopping center opened in 1971 with three 20-story high-rise buildings in Augsburg's Wolfram and Herrenbach districts on Friedberger Straße ( B 300 ). The sales areas are located directly on Friedberger Straße, the parking garage is behind it.
The shopping center managed by the CEV Center Entwicklungs- und Verwaltungs-GmbH has around 20,000 m² of usable space and around 1 km of shop window space. The construction height is 76 m. One of the three high-rise buildings was initially owned by Stadtsparkasse Augsburg and was sold in 1984. All rental apartments were converted into condominiums.
The plan was to convert the Schwabencenter with an expansion of the sales area and the demolition of the parking garage by the end of 2018. The Augsburg Forum was to be built, but in April 2018 it was announced that the reconstruction plans were stalling due to the difficult ownership structure and the project was delayed. The owner and investor of the Schwabencenter is SCA Objektgesellschaft Augsburg, which was set up by the Stuttgart Nanz Foundation. In addition, there are individual owners in the apartment towers who have evidenced usage rights.
The approximately 1600 residents reach the local supplier and other shops in the house with lifts; From the upper residential floors there is a far-reaching view over the city and, in some cases, as far as the Alps.
