The Schwalbenhaupt ( 703  m above sea  level ) is a crossroads at Masserberg on the Rennsteig on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest . On the head of the swallow is the Triniusstein memorial stone and the Triniusbaude, a managed mountain hut . Both were named after the German traveling writer August Trinius  (1851-1919).

On the Schwalbenhaupt crosses the L2052 state road, which is close to the racetrack and comes from Neustadt am Rennsteig and on to Masserberg the L1138, which comes from Katzhütte , crosses the ridge of the Thuringian Forest and continues to Gießübel . There is a parking and rest area.
