The swan pond is a pond in the Althaldensleben district of the city of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt .
It is located in the northern part of the Althaldensleben-Hundisburg landscape park . The former watermill Dominamühle is on the east bank . The pond is elongated from west to east with a length of about 150 meters and a maximum width of about 30 meters.
Originally there was a swampy spot in the area where the pond is today, in front of the domino mill. Around 1820, Johann Gottlob Nathusius had the area redesigned into a pond, which thus became the eye of the landscape park. A so-called Rousseau island was inserted in the pond . On the bank of the pond valuable trees were planted and lavishly designed carpet beds were created. Swans and fine waterfowl were kept in the pond, and a hut was built to protect them.
The swan pond also served as a water reservoir for the neighboring domino mill and the youth mill .
