The Black-throated thrush ( Turdus atrogularis ) is a songbird from the family of thrushes (Turdidae).

features

The bird measures 24–27 cm, weighs 54–110 g. The male is black on the head including throat and chest, gray on the upper side, tail gray-black, belly and flanks grayish. The beak is yellow, the legs gray.

Occurrence

The black throat thrush occurs in Eastern Europe from Russia to Siberia , in the south to Mongolia . Some of them overwinter as migratory birds on the Indian subcontinent .

behavior

It only breeds once, from May to July, in a large number of habitats, on the edge of clearings in coniferous forests, preferably on river banks.

Hazardous situation

The black throat thrush is not considered to be endangered ( Least Concern ).
