Black Sea Synergy
The Black Sea Synergy (Engl. Black Sea Synergy ) is an initiative for regional cooperation, the European Union has started. It refers to the immediate neighborhood in the Black Sea area . The initiative is an extension of the acting in the region in this regard Neighborhood Policy, the strategy for pre-accession of Turkey to EU membership and the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation . The Black Sea Synergy is intended to bring the region around the Black Sea more to the fore and contribute to strengthening existing collaborations. For this reason, the Black Sea Synergy is primarily aimed at developing cooperation within the Black Sea region and towards cooperation between the region and the European Union. Regional partners such as the organization of the Black Sea economic cooperation should also be approached.
The countries of the Black Sea region take part in the Black Sea Synergy: Greece , Bulgaria , Romania , Moldova , Ukraine , the Russian Federation, Georgia , Armenia , Azerbaijan , Turkey. Although Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Greece are not immediately neighboring countries, history, geographic proximity and close ties are sufficient to establish their regional affiliation.
