The Sweden bomb is a chocolate marshmallow the Austrian company Heidi Chocolat AG, Niemetz Sweden bombs and belongs to the genus of aerated confectionery .

history

The Sweden bomb was created by Walter Niemetz in 1926. The candy got its name in memory of a friend from Sweden who was involved in the development of the Swedish bomb. Niemetz had the name Schwedenbombe protected under trademark law in 1934. The typical six-pack of the Swedish bombs was trademarked in 1969. Gold plaques made of paper were applied by hand to the first Swedish bombs. In the 1950s, this manual step was omitted for reasons of cost. In 2010 the mini Swedish bomb - Bombini was introduced. The production of the Bombini was stopped. The reason was that the lessor dismantled the machines again during the financial distress of the group.

Manufacturing

The Swedish bomb has been made according to the original recipe in the third district of Vienna since the 1930s and until around 2015. The protein foam is sprayed onto the round piece of wafer base using a skin-pass machine and then covered on all sides with a chocolate glaze. Then for the lightly speckled variety, desiccated coconut is sprinkled on top and all around, which only stick to the surface of the chocolate glaze. Neither the recipe nor the manufacturer of the machines have changed since the beginning. Since September 2015, one of two production lines (machines) has already been set up at the new location in Wiener Neudorf . It was announced that by the end of 2015 the entire production would have moved to Lower Austria.

properties

The Sweden bomb consists of a waffle base with a diameter of 4 cm. The protein foam has a cylindrical shape with a rounded head. The glaze consists of a light type of milk chocolate. Sweden bombs are made with or without desiccated coconut. Other glazes, such as white chocolate, are not offered.
