The purpose of the Swiss Color Foundation is to certify coating materials according to criteria of environmental compatibility and to issue the environmental label . The Swiss Color Foundation has an independent sponsorship, which consists of a superordinate foundation board and a technical commission .

history

The Swiss Color Foundation was founded in December 2011 by the Board of Trustees. Wall and ceiling paints for indoor use with the environmental label have been on the market since February 1, 2012. Within three months, the number of participating paint producers under the environmental label rose to 16. Since January 2015, the certification of paints, wood and floor coatings in the interior has been possible, since May 2016 that of pasty plasters and fillers in the interior and since January 2018 of Exterior facade paints. The number of participants grew to 32 and over 900 products were registered.

The foundation is financed by the participating companies, is self-supporting and not profit-oriented. A balanced representation of all interest groups is sought through the composition of the organs. The foundation consists of a board of trustees, technical commission and secretariat. The board of trustees ensures the representation of interested stakeholders such as users, authorities, manufacturers and scientists. The Technical Commission develops the categories and classification criteria for the foundation, ensures the technical development and content expansion, administers and grants the user authorization and controls its implementation. It is made up of experts from authorities, commercial users, science, industry, consumers and education. The secretariat takes care of administrative matters and is the first point of contact for inquiries. The foundation works closely with the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) .
