Diplomatic Swiss-Surinamese relations have existed since 1979. The Swiss embassy in Caracas , Venezuela , represents Swiss interests in Suriname , while Surinamese interests in Switzerland are handled by the Surinamese embassy in Belgium .

Economic relationships

In 2017, Switzerland imported goods worth a little over 1 billion francs from Suriname, especially precious stones and metals . The exports to Suriname amounted to 2.6 million Swiss francs and mainly concerned chemicals and related products as well as machinery.
