Swiss Bible Society
history
The Swiss Bible Society (SB) was founded in 1955 in Aarau , Switzerland , and is now based in Biel . It is a non-denominational non-profit organization and cooperates with churches and Christian communities and organizations. It acts as an umbrella organization for the Cantonal Bible Societies in Switzerland and is a member of the United Bible Societies . The SB supports and promotes scientifically sound translations and revisions of the biblical texts. It also participates in the production and dissemination of the Bible in the languages and editions requested by the churches in Switzerland and abroad. She is committed to an open dialogue about the Bible in today's society. She is committed to bringing the Bible to people in an understandable, modern and needs-adapted form.
Vision and mission
The Swiss Bible Society aims to make biblical texts available to anyone who demands them in the language of their heart, and at a price they can afford. To this end, it supports and promotes scientifically sound translations and revisions of the biblical texts. It also participates in the production and dissemination of the Bible in the languages and editions requested by the churches in Switzerland and abroad.

The Swiss Bible Society is a non-denominational non-profit organization. It is organized as an association, its members include churches, Christian communities and works in Switzerland as well as individuals. It finances its work through membership fees, donations, collections, institutional contributions and the sale of its own products. The SB uses the membership fees and a portion of donations and collections to finance its infrastructure and its tasks in Switzerland. She provides the remaining income to the World Federation of Bible Societies for translation and dissemination projects.
Cooperation with ecclesiastical communities
The focus is on the Bible - and this also encourages interest in the Bible in Switzerland. It supports churches, communities and individuals who share the same goal.

The Swiss Bible Society is a member of the United Bible Societies (UBS).
Founding of UBS
In 1946 representatives from thirteen Bible Societies, including a representative from Switzerland, met to found the World Federation of Bible Societies. The Bible Society movement spread surprisingly quickly around the world. Around 150 members are currently involved in the implementation of the projects selected and supported by UBS. The activity is jointly funded and extends to over 200 countries. The Bible Societies work with all Christian churches and communities.
