Swiss refugee aid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Refugee Aid (SFH) ( French organization suisse d'aide aux réfugiés ) is an umbrella organization of aid organizations that take care of asylum seekers and recognized refugees in Switzerland .

The umbrella organization was founded on June 17, 1936 by 13 Swiss aid organizations under the name “Swiss Central Agency for Refugee Aid” (SZF). Today it has 10 aid organizations - members and associated organizations - from various denominational , political or social groups. The SFH is religiously and politically neutral.

The asylum seekers can choose an aid organization that supports them with advice and sometimes financially with regard to asylum procedures and everyday problems. The association coordinates the activities of its groups in areas of common interest and protects the interests and dignity of the refugees on the basis of its mission statement. On behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration , she organizes the presence of an aid agency representative when interviewing asylum seekers. The aid agency representatives are trained by the umbrella organization. Independently of the Federal Office for Migration, Swiss Refugee Aid also assesses the situation in the refugees' countries of origin and makes its findings available to asylum seekers for legal advice .

The umbrella organization also supports the integration efforts of the individual aid organizations (e.g. language lessons). In addition, the Swiss Refugee Aid participates in the consultation of changes to the Asylum Act and regularly takes a position on asylum and migration policy issues.
