Caritas Switzerland is an aid organization headquartered in Lucerne .
History and activity
The aid organization was founded in 1901 and is a member of Caritas Internationalis , a network of organizations in 165 countries around the world. Abroad, Caritas Switzerland provides emergency aid after disasters and sustainable development cooperation in around 20 countries. In Switzerland , Caritas primarily looks after asylum seekers and recognized refugees on behalf of the public sector . In addition, Caritas Switzerland, together with 16 independent regional Caritas organizations, supports people who are affected by poverty in Switzerland. With its studies and position papers on social, migration and development issues, Caritas Switzerland also helps ensure that social problems are perceived and shows appropriate solutions.
The president of Caritas Switzerland is Mariangela Wallimann-Bornatico, director of the management of Hugo Fasel . The representation of employees is in accordance with the agreement on social partnership since 1995 by the staff association perceived in social partnership with management.
