The Swiss Heart Foundation is a nonprofit in Switzerland working Foundation . It aims in particular to research and combat cardiovascular diseases and stroke , to educate and prevent the population as well as to advise and support those affected and their relatives.

In addition to financial contributions to selected research projects, the Swiss Heart Foundation, in cooperation with heart specialists, offers information and support for those affected as well as information material on risk factors , clinical pictures , disease symptoms, correct behavior in emergencies, diagnostic and therapeutic measures and prevention options for the population. In addition, it organizes national information and awareness-raising campaigns for the general public or specific groups as well as lectures and campaigns for the early detection of risk factors. With special services, she is involved in corporate health promotion and offers training and advice on how to behave correctly in the event of heart and brain emergencies. It also promotes long-term follow-up care through the 130 heart groups currently in existence in all regions of Switzerland, in that those affected can meet in heart groups for appropriate movement training, receive information on a healthy lifestyle and exchange experiences with one another. The Swiss Heart Foundation is financed mainly from donations, legacies and sponsorship contributions.

The foundation was established in 1967 by a group of Swiss doctors. The background to this was the alarming increase in cardiovascular diseases, which at the time had become by far the most common cause of death in Switzerland. Cardiovascular diseases are still the most common cause of death today and are one of the main reasons for permanent disabilities, albeit with a smaller proportion than then.
